South Chagrin Jackson Field Exploration

March 23, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Friday March 23rd @ 6:30 pm
South Chagrin Jackson Field Exploration
Leader: Jan

An exceptional example of Chagrin River floodplain, Jackson Field is home to abundant plant and animal species that thrive in the rich, moist, field, wetlands, forest and the river, which is the backbone of it all. Located just North of Jackson Road on Chagrin River Road this area features beautiful fields and wildlife.

We’ll explore the area’s easy trails for about an hour looking for signs of wildlife, which could include herons, eagles, ducks and red fox before returning to the parking lot to join the Cleveland Metropark public program Woodcock Watch.

Woodcocks are a secretive bird with a rather fantastic mating display. We’ll join Naturalist Natalie Schroder to learn about the special adaptations of this mysterious bird and see their spectacular “sky dance.”

Bring a headlamp or flashlight.
