Holden’s Canopy Walk and Tower Hike and Picnic, The Holden Arboretum, Leader: Beck
Join us for a hike around The Holden Arboretum which will include an optional visit to the Judith and Maynard H. Murch IV Canopy Walk and Kalberer Family Emergent Tower. The Murch Canopy Walk is a 500’ long elevated walkway built 65’ above the forest floor. The Kalberer Emergent Tower is a tower above the trees to a height of 120 feet where on a clear day you can see all the way to Lake Erie. Please let the gatehouse know you are with COA. Admission fees will be waved however there will be a $4.00 fee for the structures for nonmembers. If you are a nonmember you will need to purchase tickets at the Corning Visitor Center prior to leaving for the hike.
Following the hike everyone is welcome to our annual cookout at Mark and Dale’s house.
Leashed dogs are welcome however they are not allowed on the structures.
Directions to THE HOLDEN ARBORETUM
From Cleveland and West:
I-90 East to Mentor, Kirtland exit (#193), turn right onto Rt. 306 continue on Rt. 306 to the bottom of the hill. Turn left on to JCT 615. At the first traffic light, turn right on Kirtland-Chardon Road. Travel 3.6 miles to Sperry Road. Turn left on Sperry Road. Travel 1.4 miles, turn left to Visitor Center.
From Chardon and East:
Travel West on Rt. 6 (Chardon Road), turn right on Sperry Road. Travel 2.8 miles on Sperry Road, and turn left into Visitor Center.
